Speed tests by Google Chrome
Here’s a campaign that’s fast creating noise in the industry. The Google Chrome “Speed Tests” campaign was created by BBH New York and Google Chrome. These speed tests were filmed at actual web page rendering times.
The only equipment used was a MacBook Pro laptop with Windowsinstalled. Monitor – 24″ Asus: They had to replace the standardfluorescent backlight with very large tungsten fixtures to funnel inmore light to capture the screen. In addition, they flipped the monitor180 degrees to eliminate a shadow from the driver board and set thesystem preferences on the computer to rotate 180 degrees. No specialsoftware was used in this process. The camera: Phantom v640 High SpeedCamera at 1920 x 1080, films up to 2700 fps.

I might get blasted for saying this but as a consumer, I didn’t like these at all. Much preferred the simple (and darn cheap) google ads that had stories in the search bar….what a great little idea.
Firstly the Honda Cog style demo still takes time to unfold and secondly it all looks like someone’s taken E and gone nuts.
Not blasting. (Hey, each to his own.) But I’m a consumer, and I find these riveting to watch. The detail and imagination at work is simply brilliant. Sure, the Google ad was brilliant too, but in its ability to touch people with simplicity. Both ads are engaging – just in different manners.
